Lab Assistant I -Temp to hire (Genetic Testing)

Location: San Carlos, California, United States; onsite laboratory role

Base pay: $18.33–$25 per hour

What you will do

• Receive, prepare, route, and deliver blood, tissue, and other specimens to the appropriate laboratory workflows.
• Maintain physical and electronic sample storage, disposal, inventory, materials, and supplies.
• Enter patient and specimen data accurately into the Laboratory Inventory Management System (LIMS).
• Prepare samples for shipment and assist with cleaning laboratory equipment and benches.
• Complete required training and deadlines, recognize and escalate issues, and participate in continuous improvement projects such as TAG and 5S.
• Handle protected health information (PHI) in paper and electronic systems while following departmental expectations.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Less than one year of industry-related experience is preferred; a science-related degree is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a team setting and maintain a positive, professional approach.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, use a computer keyboard, communicate by telephone, read printed material, and perform repetitive hand motions.
