Electrical Engineer (Defence)

What you will do

• Provide electrical engineering subject matter expertise and technical guidance for high-voltage and low-voltage systems supporting Defence capabilities.
• Develop tasking statements and deliver engineering activities in line with approved policies, plans, processes, and the Engineering Management Plan.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams on engineering change management, configuration management, systems safety, certification, and design solutions.
• Review design deliverables, conduct technical design reviews, and perform risk assessments within delegated authority.
• Verify Requests for Problem Resolution against requirements, certification, and safety baselines, and manage assigned Requests for Variations.
• Collaborate with Commonwealth representatives, stakeholders, and engineering teams to resolve complex technical problems and sustain operational readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering or an equivalent qualification in a recognised engineering discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with requirements development, design review, and acceptance within a regulated technical framework, such as the Department of Defence.
• Hold or be eligible for membership of a recognised professional body and registration as a Chartered Engineer.
• Must hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance; only candidates with Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
• Must be eligible for ITAR clearance for relevant ship systems.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering designs for the Department of Defence.
• Experience in marine design or maintenance.
