Systems Engineer - Research and Innovation (Defence): Developing advanced Defence technologies, concept demonstrators, and rapid prototypes with an accent on systems engineering artefacts, requirements analysis, and system architecture. Focus on integrating, verifying, validating, and maintaining R&D capabilities while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and Defence stakeholders.
Location: Melbourne or Adelaide, Australia. Hybrid work from home and office may be considered, along with a 9-day fortnight.

What you will do
- Develop systems engineering artefacts for Defence R&D, proof-of-concept, and rapid prototyping programs.
- Elicit and analyse stakeholder requirements and support requirements baselines, system architectures, and technical data packages.
- Align R&D capabilities with product roadmaps, engineering strategies, and future needs.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Defence Delivery teams, and multidisciplinary engineering stakeholders.
- Support configuration management, technical reviews, design reviews, and stakeholder workshops.
- Install, integrate, verify, validate, and maintain prototypes while acting as a technical point of contact for assigned systems.
Requirements
- Experience across one or more stages of the Systems Engineering lifecycle.
- Understanding of systems engineering principles, processes, and methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical mindset.
- Experience developing technical documentation and engineering artefacts.
- Effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Qualifications in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
