HV Engineer

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia; national travel across existing and future HV sites

What you will do

• Own and maintain the high-voltage operating policy across 66kV switch rooms, 22/33kV distribution, RMUs, transformers, GIS, protection systems, isolation, earthing, switching, and emergency response.
• Maintain compliance with AS/NZS standards, electrical safety legislation, and network operator requirements across the national data centre portfolio.
• Develop HV switching programs, protection coordination studies, relay settings registers, and RMU operating procedures.
• Review incoming 66kV infrastructure, transformer sizing, busbar protection, and substation layouts to identify design and operational risks before construction.
• Provide specialist support for HV testing, commissioning, maintenance, capital projects, fault response, and emergency response.
• Engage with network operators, utilities, and regulators on connection agreements, protection interfaces, and network requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience with HV electrical systems in a mission-critical, utility, power generation, large industrial, or hyperscale data centre environment.
• Deep knowledge of HV distribution systems, substations, transformers, GIS, RMUs, protection systems, and associated controls across 66kV and 22/33kV networks.
• Relevant HV authorisations and electrical licences.
• Strong knowledge of AS/NZS electrical standards, electrical safety legislation, and network operator requirements.
• Experience developing HV operating policies, switching procedures, operational frameworks, protection coordination studies, and relay settings management.
• Ability to provide technical direction across HV design review, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and fault response.
