What you will do

• Provide mechanical engineering subject matter expertise, technical guidance, and leadership for capability life cycle management activities.
• Support engineering services across ship mechanical and auxiliary systems, including water, waste, HVAC, hydraulic, pneumatic, handling, and lifting systems.
• Develop tasking statements and design solutions within engineering change, configuration management, systems safety, and certification frameworks.
• Review engineering deliverables, conduct technical design reviews, and perform risk assessments within delegated authority.
• Verify problem-resolution requests against requirements, certification, and safety baselines, and manage assigned engineering variations through resolution.
• Collaborate with Engineering Leads, Principal Engineers, Commonwealth representatives, and multidisciplinary stakeholders to support naval platform readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent qualification in a recognised engineering discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with requirements development, design review, and acceptance within a regulated technical framework, such as the Department of Defence.
• Membership of a recognised professional body and registration as a Chartered Engineer, or eligibility to obtain it.
• Must be eligible for ITAR clearance for relevant ship systems.
• Must hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance; only candidates with Baseline Clearance or above should apply.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering designs for a Department of Defence program.
• Marine design or maintenance experience.
