TL;DR
Field Operations Specialist (Santa Barbara) (Accessible Telecommunications): Supporting customers with disabilities through equipment assessments, installations, training, troubleshooting, and community outreach with an accent on accessible telecommunications, relay services, and California's Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program. Focus on delivering in-home and community-based services, developing outreach materials, gathering community feedback, and coordinating support for deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind, and disabled consumers.

Location: Santa Barbara, California, with driving throughout the region for customer visits outside the branch office

Salary: $31–$36 per hour

What you will do

  • Provide customer service, technical assistance, education, and follow-up support for consumers with disabilities.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend accessible telecommunications equipment, including TTY, amplified phones, CapTel, alerting signalers, and smartphone accessibility features.
  • Install equipment, train customers on its features, troubleshoot issues, and provide follow-up services.
  • Deliver services in customer homes, offices, community spaces, by videophone, messaging, text, and interpreting applications.
  • Plan and implement communication strategies, online materials, outreach initiatives, focus groups, and surveys for California's Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program.
  • Maintain accurate service records, referrals, follow-up documentation, and compliance with privacy and information-security protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related human service field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Two years of professional experience supporting deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind, or disabled customers.
  • Two years of experience in advocacy, marketing, communications, or an equivalent combination.
  • Ability to communicate in various proficiency levels of American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Excellent oral, visual, and written communication skills, with strong organizational, record-keeping, and time-management abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to use a personal vehicle for regional customer visits.

Nice to have

  • Ability to speak Spanish.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and national resources for deaf, deaf-blind, and hard-of-hearing communities.
  • Experience with customer relationship management and inventory management systems.
