Location: Onsite in Alameda, CA; Albuquerque, NM; or Oakridge, TN. Business travel of 25–35% is required. Occasional schedule flexibility and extended hours may be needed during launches and critical project milestones.
Salary: $140,000–$166,000 annually for employees working onsite at the Alameda, CA headquarters. Compensation varies by education, experience, skills, and work location.

What you will do
- Develop licensing document content, regulatory submittals, topical reports, and supporting products for reactor facility civil and structural systems.
- Lead the planning, development, and defense of license applications and support pre-application interactions with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
- Develop licensing strategies and resolve issues involving structural design criteria, seismic design and qualification, material qualification, and design-basis loads.
- Translate regulatory requirements into traceable civil and structural design, analysis, testing, inspection, and program requirements.
- Coordinate engineering, safety analysis, construction, technology development, testing, inspection, and qualification activities.
- Support execution plans covering schedules, milestones, cost models, and decision criteria.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Nuclear, or a related engineering field.
- At least 6 years of experience in facility or system design, analysis, construction, qualification, inspection, or implementation.
- Strong civil or structural engineering experience, including evaluation, design, construction, and implementation of new technologies.
- Ability to interpret technical and regulatory requirements and prepare accurate, technically defensible licensing documents and reports.
- Ability to lead complex technical and regulatory issue resolution across multiple engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
- Work authorization may be affected by U.S. Department of Energy Part 810 export-control requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience developing Preliminary or Final Safety Analysis Reports, especially sections covering structures, systems, and components.
- Prior nuclear licensing experience; training is available for candidates without it.
