Forensic Structural/Civil Engineer

Location: Remote; ideal candidates are based in Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts. U.S. Persons only due to ITAR export-control requirements.

Salary: $100,000–$145,000 per year

What you will do

• Investigate residential and commercial property losses involving water intrusion, wind, vibration, impact, construction standards, and building-envelope failures.
• Perform site and evidence inspections using 3D scanning technology and software, testing, failure analysis, and data collection.
• Develop post-damage assessments, repair scopes, temporary support systems, and structural and foundation designs.
• Prepare technical reports explaining scientific findings and conclusions for nontechnical audiences.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations, serve as an expert witness, and provide testimony during depositions and trials.
• Maintain technical expertise through continuing education, technical publications, and preparation of technical papers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree in civil, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10+ years of forensic engineering, consulting, or relevant industry experience.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and investigative skills.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee status, or asylum status in the United States.

Nice to have

• General Contractor license.
• Experience serving as an expert witness and testifying.
• Experience with computer programs used to evaluate incidents.
