Cloud Optimization Engineer (FinOps)

Location: Onsite in San Diego, California, United States; a flexible workplace arrangement may allow remote work up to two days per week.

Base salary: $109,200–$150,150 annually.

What you will do

• Manage hybrid cloud spend across public cloud workloads, private cloud, and on-premises infrastructure.
• Manage Flexera access and ensure accurate cloud cost allocation at billing-data and workload levels.
• Analyze cloud architectures, usage patterns, billing data, metrics, and telemetry to identify cost drivers and optimization opportunities.
• Build data pipelines, dashboards, forecasting models, cost controls, alerts, and remediation workflows.
• Deliver monthly cloud and DFS financial reporting, utilization and performance metrics, and annual budget estimates.
• Lead stakeholder onboarding, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and FinOps governance and maturity improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, Data Analytics, Data Science, Accounting, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in FinOps with a focus on cloud financial management.
• Hands-on experience with Azure or GCP and a strong understanding of cloud pricing models and commitment management.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analytics tools such as SQL, Python, and PowerShell.
• Experience with capex and opex budget tracking, forecasting, stakeholder engagement, and financial reporting.
• Must work onsite in San Diego and be willing to work in a clean room environment while wearing required protective equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Flexera or other cloud cost management tools.
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
