Lead Engineer, Avionics & Electrical – Special Programs (Aerospace): Leading avionics and electrical design for prototype aircraft with an accent on sensor integration, mission systems, electrical architecture, and rapid prototyping. Focus on evaluating early-stage aerospace and defense concepts, integrating avionics from bench testing through flight testing, and owning technical approaches across Special Programs.
Location: San Jose, California, United States. Applicants must be a U.S. Person under ITAR/EAR and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
Salary: $138,200–$190,100 base pay annually.

What you will do
- Lead avionics and electrical design and integration for prototype vehicles.
- Integrate sensors, mission systems, electrical architectures, data buses, and avionics with airframes.
- Support rapid prototyping from concept architecture through bench integration, ground testing, and flight-test support.
- Own technical approaches, standards, and integration methods for avionics and electrical engineering.
- Evaluate the feasibility of emerging concepts, requests for proposals, and mission requirements.
- Prepare technical documentation, trade studies, analysis packages, and internal or government-facing review materials.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Avionics, or Computer Engineering.
- Experience designing and integrating avionics or electrical systems for aerospace or defense platforms.
- Experience across the full development lifecycle, from concept through prototype, in fast-paced and resource-constrained environments.
- Ability to work independently with significant technical ownership and contribute outside the core discipline when required.
- 8–12 years of relevant engineering experience, or equivalent experience in rapid prototyping or advanced programs.
- Must be a U.S. Person and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
Nice to have
- Advanced engineering degree.
- Familiarity with ARINC, CAN, or MIL-STD-1553 data bus and communication protocols.
- Experience evaluating early-stage technical concepts and feasibility.
