Vehicle Hardware & Software Technician (Automotive)

Location: Hyde Park, Massachusetts, United States; on-site vehicle testing and maintenance with travel availability required.

Salary: USD 27–30 per hour

What you will do

• Perform routine vehicle inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and testing instrumentation activities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and basic software-facing vehicle systems.
• Support hardware and software retrofits, updates, and field issue resolution.
• Document issues, repairs, parts used, and vehicle readiness status.
• Communicate repair status and support needs to operations and technical support teams.
• Return vehicles to deployment-ready status while following safety procedures.

Requirements

• Automotive or electromechanical technician foundation with experience in inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work across mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
• Basic Linux familiarity, including terminal navigation and review of logs or error outputs.
• Clear documentation, strong communication, attention to detail, and sound operational judgment.
• Valid California driver's license required.
• Ability to travel, work extended hours, mandatory overtime, weekends, and all weather conditions required; must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Nice to have

• ASE or OEM technician certifications.
• ADAS or sensor calibration experience.
• Exposure to LiDAR, radar, cameras, embedded computer systems, EVs, autonomous vehicles, depots, fleets, or R&D vehicles.
• Experience with Slack, Jira, Google Suite, or similar tools.
