Senior R&D Engineer

Location: Danville or San Ramon, California; hybrid work from a remote office and assigned work location based on business need

Salary: $122,000–$194,000 per year (Bay Area range)

What you will do

• Provide engineering, testing, analysis, and consulting services across multiple disciplines to diagnose and solve technical problems.
• Lead complex and innovative tests, develop test protocols and models, and analyze system and component performance under simulated operating conditions.
• Inspect systems and components, conduct failure analyses and performance assessments, and prepare technical reports and specifications.
• Oversee the assembly and modification of technical systems, prototypes, parts, and assemblies to correct functional deviations.
• Lead project scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning while ensuring deliverables meet customer expectations.
• Prepare client bid estimates, presentations, recommendations, and proposals, and identify process improvements, innovations, and cost-reduction opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a discipline related to the assignment, such as mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering.
• At least 5 years of job-related experience.
• Ability to complete broad and complex assignments, integrate information from multiple sources, and provide technical guidance to lower-level peers.
• Ability to develop technical reports, specifications, test designs, models, and data analyses.
• Travel is required, depending on the assignment, at a frequency of 10%–75%.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Professional Engineer license.
