Senior Engineer, R&D Test Engineering (Battery Materials)

Location: Alameda, California, United States; onsite

Salary: $128,000–$162,000 annual base pay

What you will do

• Lead complete R&D projects, including test planning, experimental design, preparation, execution, analysis, and communication of results.
• Design and execute experimental test plans on laboratory and pilot-scale equipment.
• Identify failure modes and root causes, then implement robust solutions.
• Analyze experimental data, system logs, and observations to generate engineering insights.
• Manage and improve test platforms for reliable, high-quality experimentation.
• Lead complex data analysis projects in collaboration with engineering, science, and technician teams.

Requirements

• At least a B.S. in engineering or physical sciences; advanced degrees are preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant professional experience; an advanced degree may substitute for part of the experience requirement.
• Experience conducting or leading experimental R&D projects and working with complex reactive or thermo-mechanical systems.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, process, and materials engineering, including heat, flow, structures, thermodynamics, kinetics, and materials.
• Experience with data analysis and Python-based data platforms.
• Experience developing instrumentation and measurement systems, including electronics, wiring, sensors, actuators, and analog, AC, and DC systems.
