VP, Deputy General Counsel

Location: New York, New York, USA (Corporate Headquarters)

Base pay range: $320,000–$360,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead North American litigation, disputes, pre-litigation claims, regulatory inquiries, arbitrations, settlements, and trial preparation.
• Advise Human Resources and business leaders on employment law, workplace investigations, employee relations, and administrative claims.
• Coordinate cross-border investigations involving anti-corruption, fraud, supply chain, workplace misconduct, data privacy, labor consultation, and privilege considerations.
• Lead and enhance the enterprise ethics and compliance program, including risk assessments, policies, training, reporting, and the ethics hotline.
• Advise operations, stores, distribution, logistics, supply chain, facilities, and loss prevention teams on legal risks and compliant business processes.
• Coordinate legal operations, technology, reporting, e-discovery, process improvement, outside counsel management, and development of legal professionals.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission in good standing with the New York State Bar.
• At least 15 years of legal experience focused on litigation, investigations, and compliance, including significant senior in-house leadership experience.
• Hands-on experience with litigation, employment law, internal investigations, subpoenas, discovery, litigation holds, e-discovery, and cross-border data issues.
• Experience leading a corporate ethics and compliance program and coordinating investigations across jurisdictions with local counsel and forensic providers.
• Strong judgment, drafting, analytical, communication, negotiation, relationship-building, and team leadership skills.
• Experience overseeing or building legal operations, including legal technology, process improvement, and outside counsel management.

Nice to have

• Big Law, government, and in-house experience supporting complex business platforms.
• Retail industry experience, including global sourcing and supply chain compliance.
• Familiarity with AI and data governance.
• Experience advising store, distribution, supply chain, or other operations teams at a multi-site enterprise.
• Experience with government investigations and self-disclosure decisions involving the DOJ, SEC, EEOC, or state attorneys general.
