TL;DR
Employment Counsel, Americas (Fintech): Advising People & Talent and business leaders on employee lifecycle matters, workplace investigations, employment policies, disputes, and cross-border workforce arrangements with an accent on US employment law, multi-jurisdiction coordination, and regulated financial services. Focus on building scalable employment playbooks, managing complex investigations and litigation, and addressing contractor, EOR, remote-work, mobility, compensation, and equity risks.
Location: Based in San Francisco, New York, or Seattle, United States
Base salary: $130,000–$200,000 per year, with potential equity and bonus.

What you will do
- Advise the People & Talent team and business leaders across the employee lifecycle, including hiring, contracts, performance management, accommodations, leave, wage and hour compliance, and terminations.
- Lead workplace investigations and sensitive employee relations matters from intake through resolution.
- Draft, maintain, and own employment policies, templates, and operational playbooks.
- Manage employment disputes, agency charges, litigation, external counsel, and related legal spend.
- Coordinate employment law advice across the Americas, APAC, and EMEA, including contractor, EOR, cross-border remote work, and mobility matters.
- Advise on compensation, benefits, equity, and conduct matters for regulated entities.
Requirements
- J.D. degree or foreign equivalent and active membership in at least one US state bar; California, Washington, or New York admission is preferred.
- At least 5 years of employment law experience in a leading law firm or in-house legal department, including employment counseling beyond litigation.
- Experience coordinating employment law advice across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience leading workplace investigations and managing employment disputes, agency charges, or tribunal matters.
- Ability to translate complex legal and risk issues into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal audiences.
- Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and operate in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, or another highly regulated business.
- Experience with contractor classification, employer-of-record populations, cross-border remote work, or permanent establishment risk.
- Experience working across time zones with colleagues in APAC and EMEA.
- Interest in taking on diverse challenges and expanding legal expertise.
