Senior Backend Engineer (Data)

Location: Remote, limited to candidates located in AZ, CA, CO, GA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, TX, WA, or Canada.

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 annually, excluding bonuses, equity, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Develop and deploy scalable, maintainable backend code.
• Design and improve distributed systems, data pipelines, and data infrastructure.
• Build reliable and performant platforms for large-scale data processing.
• Lead projects from design through production and drive them to completion.
• Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to solve complex technical problems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python or another object-oriented programming language.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience designing efficient data models.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience managing infrastructure as code, such as Terraform.
• Must be located in one of the listed US states or Canada.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, Flink, Beam, or similar large-scale data processing frameworks.
• Experience managing critical production systems with minimum 99.99% SLAs.
