Senior Backend Engineer (Data)

Location: Remote within the United States, limited to CA, CO, GA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, TX, and WA

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 annually, excluding bonuses, equity, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Develop and deploy scalable, maintainable backend code.
• Design and operate distributed systems, data pipelines, and reliable data infrastructure.
• Improve platform scalability, performance, and production reliability.
• Lead projects from design through completion and production deployment.
• Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to solve complex technical problems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python or another object-oriented programming language.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience designing efficient data models.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Ability to work remotely from one of the specified U.S. states.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, Flink, Beam, or similar large-scale data processing frameworks.
• Experience managing large-scale critical production systems with minimum SLAs of 99.99%.
