Data Governance Architect (Snowflake)

Location: Remote in Canada; candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead data governance workstreams from discovery and current-state assessment through design, implementation, handover, and adoption.
• Design governance solutions covering metadata, data quality, ownership, accountability, access, lineage, and data protection.
• Manage the delivery backlog, ticket quality, estimation, workload, ceremonies, testing, and validation.
• Lead and mentor data governance associates, specialists, and engineers.
• Serve as the senior governance contact for clients and communicate architecture, design decisions, delivery status, and changes.
• Support engagement financials, billing, status reporting, statements of work, and career reviews.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of data governance principles, metadata management, data quality, master data management, and governance tools.
• Working knowledge of data engineering and modern data platform architecture, including access control, data protection, data modelling, auditability, and evidence.
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills for data exploration, profiling, validation, and root-cause analysis.
• Consultative communication, documentation, stakeholder facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience leading delivery teams and translating governance concepts into practical processes and technical controls.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada is required; successful candidates must complete criminal and credit background checks.

Nice to have

• Data Governance certification such as CIMP or CDS, or Data Management certification such as CDMP.
• Administrator-level training or certification with Collibra, Atlan, Ataccama, or similar cataloguing tools.
• Understanding of platforms, infrastructure, machine learning, and related technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluency in French.
