Data Architect - Healthcare Insights, Pharmacy (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; the role is associated with Chicago, 550 Van Buren.

Salary: $140,000–$190,000 USD base annually; total estimated compensation including incentive compensation is $168,000–$228,000 USD.

What you will do

• Design and own the end-to-end AI context platform, including ingestion, parsing, enrichment, embeddings, vector indexing, retrieval, and serving.
• Define scalable patterns for refreshes, backfills, re-embeddings, deduplication, lineage, hybrid search, metadata filtering, and reranking.
• Architect semantic layers, data contracts, and context contracts that support BI and AI agent reasoning.
• Own platform reliability, performance, monitoring, SLAs/SLOs, incident response, CI/CD, testing, and retrieval evaluation.
• Implement security, governance, PII redaction, retention controls, audit logging, and safe access pathways for AI tools.
• Lead architecture decisions and mentor engineers through technical direction, design reviews, code reviews, and documentation.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or platform roles with hands-on delivery.
• Expert SQL, strong Python or Scala/Java, and strong production engineering practices.
• Advanced hands-on Snowflake experience, including data modeling, pipeline design, performance tuning, and production operations at scale.
• Experience designing cloud data architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands-on experience with vector search, embeddings, semantic retrieval, hybrid search, and reranking.
• Production experience with dbt or comparable semantic-layer tooling, plus the ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLM applications, RAG, agent tool interfaces, evaluation, and observability.
• Knowledge of knowledge graphs, semantic modeling, metrics layers, or mature data governance programs.
• Experience with Iceberg, Delta Lake, or other open table formats in a lakehouse.
• Technical lead or staff engineer experience.
