Engineering Manager (Product)

Location: In-person role based in the London or San Francisco office; some work-from-home arrangements are available. Visa sponsorship is available in both the UK and US.

Salary: San Francisco $283,000–$396,000; London £190,000–£266,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead planning, execution tracking, delivery coordination, release management, and customer commitments for the product engineering team.
• Directly manage product engineers through regular one-on-ones, feedback, performance management, growth support, and hiring.
• Continue shipping production code, primarily in Python and TypeScript, including features, bug fixes, tooling, and prototypes.
• Set technical standards, make architecture decisions, review code, and establish release and incident processes.
• Translate monitoring research outputs into scoped engineering work and coordinate delivery with research, infrastructure, and security teams.
• Scale the team while protecting focus, maintaining clear priorities, and delivering enterprise integrations.

Requirements

• At least four years of software engineering experience before moving into management, with the ability to ship production code today.
• At least two years of direct engineering people management or equivalent technical leadership experience, including hiring, onboarding, feedback, and performance management.
• Experience owning delivery for multi-person engineering efforts, from translating goals into tickets through completion.
• Strong direct communication, high agency, comfort with ambiguity, and readiness for a fast-moving startup environment.
• Heavy practical use of AI coding and productivity tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.
• Ability to work in person from the London or San Francisco office; visa sponsorship may be available.

Nice to have

• Experience coordinating research and engineering or shipping products with an ML or research component.
• Customer-facing delivery experience with enterprise integrations, deployments, or technical account work.

Hiring process
