Engineering Manager (Product)

Location: In-person role based in the London or San Francisco office; some work-from-home arrangements are available.

Salary: $283,000–$396,000 in San Francisco or £190,000–£266,000 in London.

What you will do

• Lead planning, prioritization, tracking, delivery, release coordination, and incident follow-up for the product engineering team.
• Translate research outputs such as monitoring capabilities and backtesting results into scoped production engineering work.
• Directly manage product engineers through 1on1s, feedback, performance management, hiring, onboarding, and career development.
• Ship production code, features, bug fixes, internal tooling, and prototypes primarily in Python and TypeScript.
• Set technical standards, make architecture decisions, review code, and establish release and incident processes.
• Build AI-assisted tooling for status reporting, ticket triage, documentation, and engineering productivity.

Requirements

• At least four years of software engineering experience before moving into management, with continued hands-on production coding.
• At least two years of direct engineering people management or equivalent technical leadership experience.
• Experience owning delivery for multi-person engineering efforts, including scoping goals into tickets and tracking outcomes.
• Strong agency, direct communication, feedback, judgment, and comfort with ambiguity and startup pace.
• Heavy practical use of AI coding and productivity tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar.
• Ability to work in person from the London or San Francisco office; visa sponsorship is available in the UK and US, subject to the applicable visa route.

Nice to have

• Experience coordinating research and engineering or shipping products with an ML or research component.
• Customer-facing delivery experience, including enterprise integrations, deployment projects, or technical account work.

Hiring process
