What you will do

• Lead a team of connectivity engineers in London building infrastructure for tool use across the product suite (MCP proxy, OAuth, token management).
• Manage hiring, coaching, and performance management to maintain a high-performing technical team.
• Partner with SF-based leadership and product, security, and platform teams to define the roadmap and bring clarity to ambiguous environments.
• Drive cross-org alignment to ship features for claude.ai, Claude Code, Cowork, and the API.
• Establish and drive engineering best practices, including operational rigor, on-call processes, and incident response.
• Contribute to broader engineering-wide initiatives as part of the management team.

Requirements

• Experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring and performance management.
• Technical background in backend or platform engineering with the ability to guide architectural decisions.
• Experience operating production distributed systems at scale, with a focus on reliability and observability.
• Excellent communication skills for building consensus across different time zones.
• Must be based in or able to work from the London office according to the hybrid policy.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager.
• Familiarity with MCP or contributions to open standards/open source ecosystems.
• Experience leading teams in close collaboration with distributed partner teams.
• Knowledge of OAuth, token management, or identity systems.
• Experience building API gateways, proxies, or multi-tenant platforms.
• Experience with enterprise governance, compliance, and AI/ML agentic systems.
