Pharmacy Technician II, Inpatient Central Pharmacy Services

Location: Tufts Medical Center, United States; onsite hospital pharmacy role

Salary: $23.04–$28.80 per hour based on full-time equivalent

What you will do

• Prepare non-sterile and non-complex sterile medications according to formulas, recipes, labels, and production instructions.
• Operate automated technology, unit-dose equipment, and automated dispensing cabinets to prepare, package, replenish, and return medications.
• Manage medication, emergency cart, supply, and storeroom inventories, including ordering, receiving, inspections, cycle counts, and removal of expired or damaged products.
• Complete quality-control documentation, storage-area inspections, temperature checks, and medication records.
• Process patient billing, third-party prescription benefits, insurance issues, pharmacy pay codes, and point-of-sale transactions.
• Support patients and customers by phone and in person while communicating with nursing, physicians, ancillary services, and pharmacy colleagues.

Requirements

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.
• Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of pharmacy-related experience.
• Knowledge of medications, dosage forms, indications, formulary status, strengths, mathematical calculations, and hazardous substance handling.
• Ability to stand and walk for approximately 90% of the day, occasionally lift up to 30 pounds, and push equipment weighing 40–60 pounds.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree.
• Two years of pharmacy-related experience in a hospital setting.
• Knowledge of complex sterile compounding techniques.
