Pharmacy Technician III (Central Operations, Full-time Rotating Shifts)

Location: 245 E. Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL; primary work location at the Prentice 10th floor pharmacy. Full-time rotating AM and PM shifts, with every other weekend and one winter and one summer holiday commitment.

Salary: USD 23.65–30.43 per hour

What you will do

• Prepare inpatient medication orders, outpatient prescriptions, unit doses, and STAT doses under pharmacist supervision.
• Prepare sterile products, IV admixtures, cytotoxic agents, and compounded dosage forms using aseptic and protective procedures.
• Enter and maintain medication orders, refill information, dispensing records, and patient medication profiles.
• Deliver medications to nursing units, manage floor-stock requisitions, and support emergency medication systems.
• Maintain inventory, controlled-substance records, narcotic inventories, and medication reconciliation accuracy.
• Follow hazardous-waste procedures and quality requirements for safe, accurate drug distribution.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Illinois Pharmacy Technician License through IDFPR required.
• CPhT certification through PTCB or ExCPT certification through NHA required for technicians licensed after 2008.
• Newly licensed technicians have two years from the license effective date to obtain certification.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week on rotating AM and PM shifts, including every other weekend and designated holidays.

Nice to have

• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program.
