Mechanical Engineering Intern (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Support projects and operations involved in deploying quantum computers.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to build, deploy, and maintain complex systems.
• Assist with mechanical design, analysis, and troubleshooting for deployed systems and equipment.
• Create and maintain CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and assembly documentation.
• Apply engineering fundamentals to diagnose technical challenges and recommend solutions.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program and graduation in 2027 or later.
• Must be a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or a worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Must not be a national of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen, due to U.S. Government national security requirements.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
• Experience with CAD software, such as Onshape, and familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T, and design for manufacturing.
• Ability to work with mechanical systems and engineering analysis methods such as FEA, thermal, stress, or EMI analysis.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience designing, fabricating, or assembling mechanical systems.
• Experience with rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printing.
• Programming or scripting experience with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
