Product Design Engineering Intern, Summer 2027

Location: San Bruno, California, United States. Onsite work with hardware components, lab equipment, and engineering build activities.

Salary: $35–$45 per hour, excluding benefits and potential equity.

What you will do

• Collaborate with the cross-functional team on the design and validation of new products.
• Develop prototypes and execute tests to advance designs toward mass-production maturity.
• Support 3D CAD design and 2D engineering documentation using NX and related tools.
• Participate in engineering builds and work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to troubleshoot manufacturing quality issues.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, completed or in progress.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection for electro-mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably NX.
• Proficiency in rapid prototyping methods.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with FEA, thermal simulation, or statistical analysis.
• Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing, including DFM and DFA.
