TL;DR
Cryogenics Engineer (Quantum Computing): Testing, validating, troubleshooting, and refining dilution refrigerators and cryogenic subsystems with an accent on high-vacuum systems, helium leak detection, safety, and customer operations. Focus on developing demanding test plans, solving cryogenic-system reliability issues, and applying heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and pressure-safety practices to quantum hardware.

Location: On-site in Denver, Colorado, United States; occasional travel to customer sites may be required.

Base salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications, plus equity and performance bonus.

Company

hirify.global develops dilution refrigerators and cryogenic hardware for quantum computing laboratories.

What you will do

  • Develop comprehensive experiments and test plans to validate cryogenic products and improve quality.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and evaluate advanced cryogenic systems, with a focus on user experience and uptime risks.
  • Work with R&D scientists, mechanical and electrical engineers, and manufacturing to refine platform designs.
  • Support customers with root-cause analysis and issue resolution from installation through long-term operation.
  • Document testing and inspection procedures to establish consistent customer-support standards.
  • Apply pressure-safety, relief-sizing, and oxygen-deficiency hazard practices to systems using helium mixtures, liquid nitrogen, and high vacuum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering, physics, or an equivalent technical field.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience designing, building, or operating cryogenic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics at cryogenic temperatures, and low-temperature material properties.
  • Hands-on experience with high-vacuum systems, helium leak detection, and safe handling of liquid nitrogen and liquid helium.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks, and analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or ANSYS.
  • Ability to work on-site in Denver, Colorado; occasional customer-site travel may be required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with dilution refrigerators, ADRs, helium-3 systems, or other sub-kelvin systems.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience with helium-3/helium-4 gas-handling systems and cryogenic joining or sealing methods.
  • Background in quantum computing, scientific instrumentation, superconducting hardware, or ASME pressure-system design.
  • Experience in a high-growth, venture-backed startup.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative work with scientists, engineers, manufacturing specialists, and customer-success teams.
  • Direct influence on products supporting quantum computing research.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k), paid time off, and paid holidays.
  • Equity and performance bonus.
