Test Automation Lead (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid in Rockville, Maryland, or remote within the continental United States (CONUS). Travel up to 10%.

Salary: $166,000–$182,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the product-line test strategy, automation approach, release quality, and quality gates for the VA Supply Chain Management DevSecOps program.
• Lead QA teams and represent quality engineering during VA release-readiness reviews.
• Define functional, security, performance, and accessibility test plans using VA-approved tools.
• Build and maintain reusable automation frameworks with Selenium, Cypress, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Maintain requirements traceability across agile requirements, test cases, defects, and validation evidence.
• Manage defect lifecycles, mentor QA staff, conduct technical interviews, and contribute to proposals and quality engineering practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software quality engineering experience, including 5+ years leading test automation across multiple Agile teams on federal IT programs.
• 5+ years designing reusable automation frameworks integrated with CI/CD using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Jenkins, and GitLab.
• Experience testing legacy systems, SaaS platforms, cloud workloads, healthcare interfaces, APIs, and performance scenarios.
• Expertise with defect management, release-readiness gates, requirements traceability, Jira, Xray, and VA Quality Manager.
• Experience with security vulnerability validation, Section 508/WCAG 2.0 accessibility testing, UAT, IOC validation, and post-deployment hypercare.
• Ability to obtain a VA PIV credential and complete a Tier 2 / Moderate Risk Background Investigation. Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field required; a master's degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• VA supply chain experience with Maximo or IFCAP, Oracle Health EHR integration testing, data migration testing, or prior Key Personnel designation.
• Experience with Agile/DORA metrics, ATO/A&A activities, and human-in-the-loop validation of AI-generated test scripts.
• ISTQB CTFL-AT, SAFe Practitioner, SAFe Agilist, or SAFe DevOps certification.
