Engineer Solution Lead (OpenShift)

Location: Hybrid in Rockville, Maryland, or remote within the continental United States (CONUS). Travel up to 10%.

Salary: $171,00–$187,000 per year, with potential additional compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead platform, integration, hosting, cloud, and data engineering activities for the VA Supply Chain Management DevSecOps program.
• Own the enterprise integration hub and multi-tenant OpenShift environment, including APIs, HL7, and EDI interfaces.
• Build reusable CI/CD infrastructure with Ansible, Helm, and Terraform while maintaining VA security and DISA STIG compliance.
• Lead migrations to VA Enterprise Cloud, including cutovers, cloud operations, patching, and cost optimization.
• Establish disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans, application performance monitoring, incident response, and capacity forecasting.
• Mentor engineers, lead hiring, coordinate with VA stakeholders and technology partners, and improve reusable DevSecOps practices.

Requirements

• 12+ years of IT engineering experience, including at least 5 years leading platform, cloud, and integration teams on large federal IT programs.
• 5+ years building and operating secure, multi-tenant platforms with OpenShift, Kubernetes, Ansible, and Terraform.
• 5+ years managing enterprise integration platforms, API management, service orchestration, HL7, FHIR, and EDI.
• Experience with federal cloud migrations, AWS, Azure, VA Enterprise Cloud, disaster recovery, high availability, CI/CD, APM, and observability.
• Knowledge of VA OIT infrastructure and security standards, including TRM, TIC 3.0, IPv6-only requirements, ATO, and FedRAMP compliance.
• Tier 2 / Moderate Risk Background Investigation and ability to obtain a VA PIV credential required. Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field required; master's degree preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with legacy VistA coexistence and integrations with Oracle Health EHR and iFAMS.
• Red Hat OpenShift, AWS, Azure, and SAFe certifications.
• Experience with AI-assisted SDLC or AIOps tools.
