Staff Cloud Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Pleasanton, United States. Candidates who live within a reasonable commute to a hirify.global office must work in the office at least 3 days a week.

Salary: $193,000–$242,000 per year, plus eligible short-term and long-term incentive programs and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and delivery of scalable, resilient, cloud-native platform infrastructure.
• Design and develop Kubernetes-native systems, including stateless serverless services and Knative sequences.
• Design and operate event-driven platforms using Kafka, Pub/Sub, and eventually consistent service patterns.
• Drive security-first platform design covering networking, firewall policies, container hardening, logging, monitoring, availability, and resiliency.
• Establish observability with custom sensors, dashboards, alerting, and SLO monitoring while owning the CI/CD strategy.
• Influence partner engineering, product, and IT teams; mentor engineers and lead major cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of experience in engineering, platform, or SRE roles.
• Expert proficiency in at least one of Rust, C#, Python, Go, Java, or an equivalent language.
• Experience developing container-targeted applications with Docker, Swarm, Kubernetes, or App Engine.
• Production experience with GCP and/or AWS at scale, including services such as BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, VPC networking, and IAM.
• Experience with databases and key-value stores such as PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, or ValKey.
• Experience with event-driven platforms, architectural leadership, cross-functional influence, and operational improvement.

Nice to have

• Advanced Kubernetes experience, including scheduler optimization, ArgoCD GitOps workflows, Kustomize, and security tooling.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud managed services.
• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation, plus Ansible or comparable configuration management tools.
• Experience with container security scanning, policy enforcement, and software supply-chain tooling.
• Familiarity with React, Angular, or Vue.
