Senior Carrier Procurement Specialist

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid schedule

Salary: $72,000–$85,000 annual base salary

What you will do

• Lower Buy-to-Market costs and protect margins through rate negotiation and long-term carrier contract management.
• Build reliable carrier relationships and capacity networks that support sales growth and customer acquisition.
• Partner with sales teams during bids and RFPs by providing lane pricing, capacity guarantees, and commitments.
• Source, vet, onboard, and contract carriers across dry van, reefer, flatbed, and specialized freight modes.
• Collect carrier feedback on portals, tracking apps, and digital tools, then share insights with Product and Engineering.
• Collaborate with product managers to test and launch carrier-facing features that address driver and dispatcher needs.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in carrier management, carrier procurement, carrier sales, or a related role.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of full truckload pricing, lane dynamics, and U.S. freight market trends across multiple modes.
• Proficiency with data management systems and the ability to present information effectively.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, including experience securing favorable carrier contract rates.

Nice to have

• Experience with Transportation Management Systems, DAT, Truckstop, Sonar, or Google Sheets.
• Experience working with product, technology, UX, or mobile app teams.
• Experience collaborating with customer-facing sales teams and participating in shipper calls.
• Experience in a 3PL, 4PL, or similar freight environment.
