Senior Global Indirect Sourcing Category Manager (Logistics)

Location: Deerfield, Illinois, United States; domestic travel required up to 25%.

Base salary: $81,000–$124,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus or role-based sales incentive plan.

What you will do

• Own sourcing strategy for more than $300M in transportation and logistics spend across truckload, LTL, parcel, intermodal, and international modes.
• Analyze logistics spend, shipment profiles, freight lanes, supplier utilization, service requirements, and market conditions to identify optimization opportunities.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives, including data collection, market analysis, RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, bid evaluation, negotiations, supplier selection, and implementation.
• Develop pricing templates covering transportation rates, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, storage, detention, demurrage, and other logistics fees.
• Partner with Procurement, Logistics, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Risk Management to negotiate agreements and implement supplier transitions.
• Manage supplier scorecards, contract renewals, corrective actions, risk mitigation, savings delivery, and transportation network improvements.

Requirements

• 8–12 years of progressive experience in transportation/logistics sourcing or logistics operations.
• Demonstrated expertise across multiple transportation modes and experience managing transportation spend at scale; $100M+ preferred.
• Strong knowledge of logistics pricing, fuel surcharge programs, accessorial charges, and carrier or 3PL operating models.
• Experience leading strategic sourcing from spend analysis and RFx development through negotiation, contracting, award recommendation, and implementation.
• Strong stakeholder management, presentation, written communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, procurement, business, finance, operations, or a related field is preferred; professional certification is also preferred.

• International logistics experience.
• Experience in a complex, multi-business, multi-location, or global organization.
• CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, CTL, or equivalent procurement or supply chain certification.
