Principal Foundry Engineer (FD-SOI)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; regular travel to the Samsung Austin fab is required. Applicants must provide proof of the right to work in the United States.

What you will do

• Lead technical engagement with Samsung Austin and Samsung Korea, coordinating foundry engineering teams across the United States and Taiwan.
• Own end-to-end process transfer and product qualification for Samsung 28FDS FD-SOI technology, including baseline qualification, process corner validation, and PVT characterization.
• Drive lot starts, wafer splits, process window experiments, WAT analysis, and evaluation of process, material, and equipment changes.
• Lead post-transfer sustaining activities, including yield improvement, process window optimization, SPC monitoring, and root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate failure analysis, product failure diagnosis, bitmap analysis, and customer-facing 8D and CAR quality responses.
• Provide program plans, milestone tracking, risk management, status reporting, and cross-functional coordination across R&D, Quality, Reliability, Test, Product Engineering, and Operations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of semiconductor process or foundry engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with advanced CMOS or FD-SOI technologies at 28 nm or below, including device physics and fabrication processes.
• Strong understanding of FD-SOI device physics, including back-bias tuning, body effects, leakage, and variability.
• Experience with product qualification and reliability testing, including HTOL, TDDB, and EM, plus WAT analysis, yield engineering, SPC, and failure diagnosis.
• Experience leading multi-year foundry transfer or qualification programs and managing concurrent cross-functional priorities.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with Samsung 28FDS FD-SOI technology or Samsung Foundry engineering teams.
• Failure Analysis experience.
• Proficiency in JMP, Python, or equivalent large-scale data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with AEC-Q100, semiconductor design rules, DFM, layout-based yield analysis, or Lattice FPGA architecture.
