Sustaining Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 119,500–159,300 annually, plus bonus opportunity

Manufactures rugged aerospace and defense products for high-mix, high-quality, small-batch production at an AS9100- and ISO-9001-certified facility.

What you will do

• Supervise, assign work to, mentor, and evaluate sustaining engineering staff.
• Lead sustaining support across product development, manufacturing, production, quality, R&D, and field service.
• Manage Engineering Change Requests through completion of Engineering Change Orders.
• Analyze field and production failures, resolve technical issues, and provide engineering direction.
• Coordinate product variants, obsolete-part replacements, development estimates, schedules, and technical proposals.
• Promote quality standards, continuous improvement, and effective manufacturing support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; a technologist diploma or equivalent experience may be considered.
• At least 8 years of industry experience related to electronic computing; managerial or leadership experience is preferred.
• Strong engineering judgment, problem-solving ability, project estimation, scheduling, and multitasking skills.
• Leadership, mentoring, communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Hands-on leadership style with strong attention to detail and a solid engineering background.
• Experience with electronic assemblies, rugged environments, manufacturing processes, configuration management, or embedded technologies is valuable.

Nice to have

• Aerospace electronics, VME, VPX, XMC, PMC, Intel, NXP, Qualcomm, Broadcom, FPGA, PCI Express, Ethernet, USB, DDR4, PCB technologies, Agile PLM, or Python scripting experience.
