Assistant Vice-President, Technology Lead, Health

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; flexible hybrid work model

Salary: CAD 145,000–235,000 base pay, plus eligible incentive plans

What you will do

• Define and execute technology strategy and modernization across health benefits claims, adjudication, virtual health, online pharmacy, and core systems.
• Lead end-to-end delivery across multiple agile squads and serve as the escalation point for critical platform and delivery issues.
• Lead and develop a 250+ person technology organization, including five Director-level reports.
• Manage platform budgets, cost optimization, capitalization decisions, strategic vendors, and system integrators.
• Establish governance for delivery, security, regulatory compliance, incident management, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

Requirements

• 10+ years of senior technology leadership experience across very large portfolios and complex, mission-critical enterprise systems.
• Experience modernizing technology platforms while maintaining operational excellence.
• Strong financial acumen and experience managing large budgets, vendor portfolios, and return on investment.
• Strong technical foundation with credibility in architecture, delivery practices, CI/CD, and engineering approaches.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in regulated health, insurance, or financial services is valuable.

Nice to have

• Experience in health benefits claims or the broader health industry.
• Knowledge of mainframe environments and their integration with modern digital systems.
• MBA or another advanced degree.
• For Quebec positions only: bilingual French and English communication skills, written and spoken.
