TL;DR
2027 Summer Intern, Resilience Coordinator (Emergency Management): Supporting disaster recovery, hazard mitigation, and resilience projects for state and local clients administering FEMA, HUD, and other funded programs with an accent on regulatory research, program procedures, and technical documentation. Focus on analyzing disaster recovery policies, preparing reports and training materials, and coordinating project support for infrastructure and climate-planning initiatives.

Location: Hybrid from the Tallahassee, Florida office two days per week. The 10-week full-time internship runs from June through August 2027. Relocation and housing assistance are not provided.

Salary: $28 per hour for graduate interns. The listed pay range is $37,839–$64,326 for full-time employment.

What you will do

  • Provide administrative and technical support for hazard mitigation funding and planning projects.
  • Support state and local clients administering FEMA, HUD, and other federal and state-funded programs.
  • Research, interpret, and apply disaster recovery regulations and policies.
  • Help refine program procedures and processes for implementation.
  • Prepare written reports, policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with experts in utilities, critical infrastructure, climate planning, finance, and related areas.

Requirements

  • Completed bachelor's degree and enrollment verification in a graduate program focused on Emergency Management, Homeland Security, or a similar field.
  • Alternatively, at least 9 completed graduate credits in a related program.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, written communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience researching, organizing, analyzing, and documenting information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from the Tallahassee, Florida office twice per week.

Nice to have

  • Coursework or internship experience in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Disaster Management, or FEMA-related work.
  • Experience writing detailed guidance, proposals, and procedural materials.
  • Data-entry experience and strong time-management skills.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems or other mapping platforms.
  • Consistent attention to detail.
