TL;DR
Family and Client Support Specialist (Human Services): Supporting refugees, immigrants, and families through resettlement, resource navigation, advocacy, and individualized case plans with an accent on trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based services. Focus on coordinating community resources, addressing barriers, tracking client progress, and providing in-person support across homes, offices, and community settings.

Location: Turlock, California, USA; hybrid work across the IRC office, client homes, community settings, and partner locations

Pay rate: $29.10–$30.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Support newly arrived refugees, immigrants, asylees, newcomers, and eligible families with airport reception, transportation, housing stabilization, home setup, orientation, and essential resources.
  • Conduct intakes, assessments, follow-ups, and individualized support planning focused on self-sufficiency and SMART goals.
  • Provide advocacy, coaching, referrals, resource navigation, appointment support, provider communication, and coordinated assistance.
  • Connect clients with healthcare, behavioral health, public benefits, housing, education, employment, transportation, interpretation, legal, and family-support services.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, employers, landlords, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain case documentation and data in ETO or other required systems, respond to urgent needs, and transport clients, household goods, or materials when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, human services, psychology, sociology, or a related field preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in refugee resettlement, human services, public health, social services, or community-based services preferred.
  • Experience with refugees, immigrants, asylees, newcomers, low-income families, or culturally and linguistically diverse communities strongly preferred.
  • Strong advocacy, communication, active listening, cross-cultural engagement, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in a client-community language is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, reliable transportation, and ability to operate passenger vans and small box trucks are required based on program needs.
