Senior Product Engineer (Fintech)

Location: London, Brick Lane; office attendance at least 3 days per week, including Mondays

Rate: £600–£650 per day; 3-month contract starting as soon as possible; IR35 outside

What you will do

• Deliver features and improvements across Scala microservices supporting payments, core banking and rewards.
• Build event-driven integrations with Kafka, internal services and external partners.
• Improve service reliability, performance and automated test coverage.
• Contribute to the React Native mobile app and other parts of the product stack when needed.
• Document delivered work and provide a clear handover at the end of the engagement.

Requirements

• Deep production experience with functional Scala, preferably using Cats Effect, Http4s and fs2.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, RESTful APIs and Kafka or similar event-driven architectures.
• Ability to become productive quickly in an established codebase and deliver production changes within the first weeks.
• Experience with automated testing and maintaining production quality.
• Ability to work from the London office at least 3 days per week, with in-person technical interviewing at the Shoreditch office.
• Right-to-work, criminal record, politically exposed person and credit default checks are required before the engagement starts.

Nice to have

• React Native experience.
• Fintech, card payments, banking or other regulated-environment experience.
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.
