Senior Data Platform Engineer (AWS)

Salary: $155,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Design anti-corruption layers that map and transform merchant-specific schemas, formats, and delivery mechanisms into consistent downstream data.
• Build onboarding tooling and standards for enterprise merchants, support migrations, and handle complex integrations.
• Develop merchant-facing error reporting based on failure capture and file-return capabilities.
• Engineer validation, reconciliation, automated failure triage, alerting, monitoring, observability, and data-quality checks.
• Expand the event-driven architecture using Kafka, EventBridge, SNS, Step Functions, and SQS, including lifecycle webhooks for service and order events.
• Own projects from design through production and mentor engineers while shaping integration standards.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience in Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, or a related field.
• Deep experience with AWS serverless services, including Lambda, DynamoDB, Glue, and Step Functions.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka, EventBridge, and SNS, plus strong Python and TypeScript skills.
• Experience building and hardening large-scale data platforms and integrations with a focus on correctness and reliable external data boundaries.
• Experience building platforms and tooling used by other engineers, working with data lakes or warehouses such as Snowflake, and implementing reconciliation.
• Ownership, problem-solving, and mentorship skills with a collaborative working style.
