Senior Software Engineer - High Voltage Electrification (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid role based at Milford Proving Grounds, Michigan, with office attendance required at least three times per week. Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy.

What you will do

• Develop and deliver embedded control software for high-voltage contactors, battery energy management, diagnostics, and mechatronic control systems.
• Design and implement physics and controls requirements using sound software architecture, design patterns, supervisory controls, and hardware abstractions.
• Ensure compliance with automotive safety requirements, government regulations, GM policies, and MISRA guidelines.
• Test and demonstrate software at controller, system, and vehicle levels using SiL, HiL, test benches, automated tools, and vehicles.
• Maintain requirements traceability by linking design solutions to test cases and documenting software functionality.
• Lead Agile Scrum collaboration across Systems & Safety, Validation, Electrical Architecture, SDV, Calibration, and Vehicle Performance teams while applying BDD, TDD, CI/CD, DevOps, SOA, and AI-driven diagnostics.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• At least 5 years of experience developing embedded controls software for high-voltage battery systems.
• Automotive safety experience with ISO 26262 and strong knowledge of diagnostics, control systems, software verification, and validation.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and hands-on experience with SiL, HiL, and vehicle-level testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of virtual testing, DevOps, CI/CD pipeline integration, JIRA, and Scaled Agile Framework.
• Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, take initiative, and demonstrate customer-focused innovation.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science and 8 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in C, C++, MATLAB Simulink, auto code generation, and Python scripting.
• Experience with bootloaders, embedded operating systems, controller communication, diagnostics, complex device drivers, and software architectures.
• Experience with AUTOSAR, MISRA, CAN, LIN, ARXML, or Ethernet communication protocols.
