Software Engineer 3 - Embedded (RIS)

Location: Hybrid in Sunnyvale, California, United States; work from an HPE office an average of two days per week.

Salary: USD 120,500–243,000 annual base salary in California, with possible variable incentives.

What you will do

• Design and develop platform and system-level software and firmware for networking platforms.
• Program network processors and ASIC devices for HPE-Juniper routing platforms.
• Develop complex embedded code, troubleshoot issues, and resolve software defects.
• Contribute to requirements gathering, implementation, testing, and sustaining activities.
• Write functional, design, and unit test specifications.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar field.
• At least five years of embedded systems development and debugging experience.
• Strong C/C++, embedded systems, and device driver development experience in Linux or Unix environments.
• Hands-on experience developing embedded software for network switches or routers.
• Experience with new hardware bring-up and networking technologies such as Ethernet interfaces, high-speed PHYs, SERDES, or fabric management.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Understanding of hardware board design and layout.
• Experience with PCIe, I2C, FPGA, Ethernet MAC/PHY, or high-speed buses.
• Experience with device drivers, interface management, or chassis management.
• Experience using software, hardware, and memory debugging tools.
