Virtual Validation Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Dearborn, Michigan, United States; hybrid work with potential onsite attendance four or more days per week for candidates within commuting distance of a hirify.global hub.

Salary: $99,600–$166,600 for salary grade 7 or $115,000–$192,900 for salary grade 8.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain ECU simulations at Level 4 target-native hardware emulation and Level 3 host-native simulation levels.
• Evaluate technologies and methods for integrating simulations and virtual ECU platforms.
• Troubleshoot virtual ECU hardware and software integration issues.
• Develop simulation tools, environments, and scripts for automotive applications and automated virtual test execution.
• Support software development and testing teams adopting virtual ECU environments.
• Plan project roadmaps and contribute to project management decisions while collaborating with tool vendors and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience developing simulation or virtualization frameworks, or equivalent system programming experience.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python or a similar scripting language.
• Experience with Agile development environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with instruction-level or cycle-accurate simulation tools and environments.
• Exposure to co-simulation, multi-domain simulation, and multiple simulator integration.
• Familiarity with automotive ECUs, control systems, communication protocols, and HIL testing.
• Experience with containers, cloud, batch computing, embedded development, or hardware bring-up.
