Sr. Staff Validation & Tools Engineer (Embedded Firmware)

What you will do

• Define the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for embedded firmware and software validation.
• Design and scale SIL and HIL infrastructure for automated system testing, regression coverage, release readiness, and defect reproduction.
• Build validation frameworks, metrics, reporting, and traceability across firmware and software releases.
• Lead validation planning for new features, firmware releases, connectivity workflows, and system-level product behavior.
• Partner with Hardware, Firmware, Systems, Mobile, Cloud, Product, and Test Engineering teams to improve testability and manage technical risks.
• Lead root-cause analysis, develop automated tooling, integrate validation into CI/CD pipelines, and mentor validation engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software quality engineering and embedded systems testing, including technical leadership in complex validation frameworks.
• Experience with embedded, connected, automotive, mobility, IoT, or software-defined vehicle platforms and RTOS- or Linux-based systems.
• Strong knowledge of embedded architectures, microcontrollers, bootloaders, firmware updates, hardware/software interfaces, and board-level debugging.
• Programming and automation experience with Python, Robot Framework, Pytest, or similar tools, plus CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with SIL/HIL environments, embedded debug tools, connectivity technologies, automotive protocols, and tools such as CANoe or CANalyzer.
