Patient Care Tech-General Medicine 16W Part-time Days

Location: 251 E. Huron, Chicago, IL, United States; onsite, part-time day shift

What you will do

• Provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Measure and document vital signs, intake and output, blood glucose, EKGs, oxygen saturation, and other clinical observations.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, mobility, hygiene, feeding, newborn care, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and post-operative care.
• Support emergency response, including basic life support, patient transport, oxygen and suction setup, and timely escalation of condition changes.
• Maintain clean, safe, stocked, and prepared patient rooms and clinical equipment.
• Complete documentation, charges, quality-control activities, inventory tasks, staff meetings, and delegated unit duties.

Requirements

• CNA certification or current enrollment in a nursing program with completed basic clinical rotations.
• CPR recognition from the American Heart Association, BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• High school diploma.
• Unit-based recognition for capillary blood glucose monitoring and at least 90% on annual mandatory health and safety training quizzes.
• Previous healthcare-setting experience and the ability to work with patients, families, nursing staff, and medical staff are preferred.

Nice to have

• One year of college, nursing education, or equivalent experience.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree.
