Program Evaluation Specialist

Location: Fully remote within a local US time zone; AFT headquarters in Washington, DC. Occasional travel may be required for in-person workshops, focus groups, and surveys.

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year, based on experience.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and refinement of program evaluation frameworks across organizational initiatives.
• Develop evaluation plans and standardized approaches aligned with program objectives and specific program needs.
• Design and manage qualitative and quantitative data collection through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and other evaluation tools.
• Analyze data, synthesize findings, and produce technical reports, presentations, summaries, and practical recommendations.
• Build an organization-wide impact evaluation system and toolkit while providing technical assistance to program teams.
• Collaborate with research staff, program teams, external partners, funders, and leadership to support organizational learning and evidence-based decisions.

Requirements

• MS degree in a social science-related discipline preferred, or a related BS degree.
• 2–5 years of professional experience conducting program evaluation.
• Experience working with both qualitative and quantitative data, including surveys and confidential data management.
• Experience analyzing quantitative data with tools such as Excel or R and qualitative data with tools such as NVivo or Dedoose.
• Strong written and verbal communication, group facilitation, collaboration, and independent-work skills.
• Commitment to protecting farmland, promoting sound practices, and supporting farmers.

Nice to have

• Background in agriculture, ecosystem services, environmental science, or a similar field.
• Experience with SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics.
