Senior Business Analyst

Location: US Remote; candidates in Illinois or surrounding states are strongly preferred. Role location listed as Springfield, Illinois, United States.

Salary: $81,499–$138,549 annually.

What you will do

• Support the full software development lifecycle for tools used in energy efficiency program tracking and reporting.
• Lead requirements and analysis workstreams, facilitate workshops, clarify objectives, document decisions, and drive delivery.
• Analyze current and future-state processes, identifying risks, gaps, dependencies, controls, and automation opportunities.
• Translate business needs into project plans, requirements specifications, process flows, data mappings, use cases, acceptance criteria, and user stories.
• Analyze datasets with Excel, SQL, Power BI, and related tools to identify trends, anomalies, root causes, and data-quality issues.
• Coordinate with technologists, developers, reporting teams, project managers, clients, and other cross-functional partners; support training and mentor analysts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent related experience.
• 5+ years of experience in business analysis or a similar role supporting data-driven or technical systems.
• 2+ years of experience prioritizing multiple projects, deliverables, and deadlines.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong requirements elicitation, workshop facilitation, process analysis, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice to have

• Experience in utility, energy, demand response, or energy efficiency sectors.
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Visio, or MS Project.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to business audiences and business needs to technical teams.
