Principal Engineer (IIoT Platform)

Location: hirify.global Motors Battery Plant in Liberty, North Carolina; must reside within a commutable distance

hirify.global develops mobility and manufacturing solutions, with this role supporting the Manufacturing IT organization and Industrial IoT capabilities.

What you will do

• Own the internal IIoT platform as a product, including interfaces, releases, support models, adoption metrics, documentation, and runbooks.
• Build and operate containerized production workloads on Kubernetes across local, QA, staging, and production environments.
• Develop GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines with testing, security scanning, artifact signing, deployment gates, and automated rollback.
• Define infrastructure as code and golden paths that enable application teams to deliver secure, observable services.
• Build backend services, APIs, ETL pipelines, and data integrations for high-volume event streaming and intermittently connected clients.
• Establish observability, security, SLOs, on-call operations, incident response, permanent fixes, and platform modernization practices.

Requirements

• Must have the right to work in the United States without current or future hirify.global immigration sponsorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or 7+ years of equivalent experience, plus 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years building backend services with Go, Python, or a comparable language, and designing RESTful APIs.
• 5+ years with containerization and orchestration, including Docker or Podman and Kubernetes.
• 5+ years designing CI/CD pipelines, with experience in GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
• Experience with relational databases, infrastructure as code, GitOps, observability, Linux, networking, TLS/PKI, secrets management, and secure software supply chains.

Nice to have

• Cloud platform experience, especially AWS, and hybrid edge-to-cloud architectures.
• Experience with internal developer platforms, self-service tooling, service mesh, ingress, or API gateways.
• Experience with time-series or event-streaming data stores, performance profiling, and capacity planning.
• TypeScript and React experience for platform consoles and operational dashboards.
