Senior Platform Engineer (Python)

Location: Hybrid in Arlington, Virginia, with three days per week at the office. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret/SCI security clearance are required.

What you will do

• Own the development, maintenance, and production support of shared backend infrastructure packages and data-migration suites.
• Build versioned, independently hosted internal tools for database utilities, API integration layers, and developer workflows.
• Lead the migration of internal platform tooling from Docker to Kubernetes.
• Integrate automated schema validation and database linting into monorepo CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot production issues by analyzing logs, schemas, system performance, and architectural bottlenecks.
• Partner with Product Managers and Team Leads on technical estimates, requirements, architecture standards, and engineering mentorship.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years of Python development.
• At least 3 years of experience with relational databases and at least 2 years designing, implementing, or supporting structural data migrations.
• Experience developing in Unix or Linux environments and building, running, and troubleshooting containerized applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Git and Jira in an agile development workflow, plus strong analytical troubleshooting and communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
