TL;DR
Associate Manufacturing Engineer (Defense Tech): Supporting service and production manufacturing for WESCAM products in the ATLAS cell with an accent on quality, reliability, troubleshooting, and process control. Focus on conducting 8D root-cause analysis, developing PFMEA and control plans, implementing Lean improvements, and resolving mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical manufacturing issues.

Location: Waterdown, Ontario, Canada; onsite role

Salary: CAD 71,000–81,700 per year

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary manufacturing engineering contact for the service ATLAS cell and support both service and production items.
  • Troubleshoot system-level mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical manufacturing issues.
  • Create and maintain service processes, work instructions, manufacturing documentation, and MES content.
  • Develop PFMEA, SPC, first-pass approval, control plans, tooling, and test procedures for WESCAM products.
  • Support NPI projects, stage gates, MRB and TRB meetings, NCR closure, and non-conforming material disposition.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and continuous improvement using 8D, RCCA, 5S, value stream mapping, and other Lean tools.

Requirements

  • University degree or a three-year college diploma with relevant experience in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering within a high-tech assembly environment.
  • Knowledge of systems, electro-mechanical manufacturing, and process engineering.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles, with the ability to troubleshoot and solve issues in real time.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program and obtain and maintain a positive security assessment.

Nice to have

  • AS9100 knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Composer, or AutoCAD.
  • Green Belt certification or equivalent Lean industry experience.
  • PMP certification or Professional Engineer designation.
