Laboratory Systems Scientist (Molecular Diagnostics)

Location: On-site in Boulder, Colorado, United States. Full-time role working standard business hours with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays when required for critical deliverables.

Salary: $103,000–$115,000 per year, plus performance incentive bonus, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Serve as a technical subject-matter expert for laboratory software, automation, implementation, release testing, and operational infrastructure.
• Capture and refine user requirements with program management, laboratory leadership, research, software, bioinformatics, quality, and regulatory teams.
• Develop and execute PQ, validation, and verification plans for laboratory systems, automation, equipment, and workflows.
• Analyze results, prepare reports, identify performance risks, and resolve issues affecting equipment, automation, chemistry, or testing.
• Develop equipment management, maintenance, process improvement, SOP, process map, decision tree, and training programs.
• Support wet-lab operations and bench work when staffing, capacity, training, or sample criticality requires it.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant laboratory experience, or 2+ years with an MS or PhD.
• 2+ years of experience in CAP, CLIA, NYSDOH, ISO 13485, or ISO 15189 environments.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• Experience with complex molecular biology workflows, ideally next-generation sequencing, and with laboratory validations and verifications.
• Experience with laboratory batch records, LIMS, FreezerPro, laboratory software, agile-scrum methods, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, project-management, and risk-mitigation skills.
