Scientist 2 - Assay Product Development (Genomics)

Location: San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $74,900–$112,300 base salary per year, plus eligible bonus, commission, and equity programs.

What you will do

• Design and perform experiments for new and novel sequencing library preparation assays.
• Apply molecular biology and biochemistry laboratory techniques across experiments of varying complexity.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data, documenting observations in laboratory notebooks and Confluence.
• Generate conclusions, recommendations, follow-up experiments, and alternative strategies for product development teams.
• Improve the consistency and quality of team data collection by establishing effective criteria and work procedures.

Requirements

• Relevant experience developing or adapting technologies and processes, with proficiency in an applicable scientific area.
• High productivity and effectiveness in a laboratory environment.
• Ability to design complex experiments with appropriate controls and troubleshoot issues.
• Ability to draw sound conclusions from complex experimental datasets.
• Strong knowledge of standard methods used in the relevant department.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively with different stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of related experience, an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent work experience.
