Product Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States. Onsite work in an ISO Class 5 cleanroom with up to 15% travel for training and global customer support.

Base pay: $76,300–$111,900 annually.

What you will do

• Own assigned wafer inspection tools and ensure availability, readiness, uptime, and stable performance for engineering and demonstration activities.
• Monitor tool health and coordinate issue resolution with systems, software, hardware, applications, service, and manufacturing teams.
• Perform calibration, specification validation, preventive maintenance, and post-maintenance capability verification.
• Troubleshoot software, hardware, optics, motion control, and wafer-handling subsystems using structured root-cause analysis.
• Prepare tools and support customer demonstrations in partnership with Applications Engineers.
• Document investigations, test results, lessons learned, and wafer-handling activities while supporting critical off-hours operations and 5S standards.

Requirements

• Master's degree with 0 years of related experience, or bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience.
• Understanding of precision instruments and control systems; semiconductor inspection or metrology experience is beneficial.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex electromechanical or optical systems.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, analytical, and technical documentation skills.
• Familiarity with cleanroom operations, wafer handling, and equipment safety practices.
• Ability to work on moderately scoped problems using established processes and provide up to 15% travel support.

• Experience with semiconductor inspection or metrology tools.
• Exposure to design of experiments or data-driven troubleshooting.
